Random Picture Week: Day 4

This picture was taken last summer at the St. Louis, MO Temple. It was an awesome trip because Jeremiah and I were able to attend the temple, which was located roughly 4 hours away from our home in Olathe, while the youth from our church watched our kids at a nearby chapel. When we were done we went to pick up our kids, changed our clothes, and then took them back over to the temple grounds for a walk and picnic lunch (yummy $2 taco bell meals).

I love everything that is going on in this picture. Ashlynne and Brinton are grinning ear to ear (can you say Cheese?) waiting for the picture to be taken. Elise is too distracted by the sun/wind in her eyes to stay focused on the camera and she can't keep her hands out of her face. Liam is looking at me to see what I'm doing and there I am, a very pregnant mommy in action, helping Julianna stay modest and keep her skirt from flying in her face. I love pictures that show me being a mommy...like really actively doing some type of motherly thing. Silly but sometimes I forget until I see it in pictures...

P.S. I guess you can't tell BUT I was 7 months pregnant in this picture.

Random Picture Week: Day 3

In September 2009, I spent my 28th birthday with Jeremiah, Julianna and Liam in New Orleans, LA. Jeremiah was on a business trip for the week and so he took us along with him. The big kids were in school so they had to miss the trip. Jeremiah had to work everyday and could only spend evenings with us--so I was pretty much left to fend for myself and have fun in the Big Easy with my two kiddos. I got really good at getting around using their trolley car system with two small kids, a diaper bag, and a stroller.....anyway back to the picture...

The day after my birthday I got passes for us to go to the new Audubon Nature Institute also known as the Insectarium. It's the bug museum. We saw every kind of bug possible....and then I ate one....in a cookie! EW! Actually I couldn't even really taste it once I ate it. Every time I went to bite into it I'd squeal so I stood there freaking out about eating it for like 3 minutes before I finally bit into it. LOL! If you look closely you'll see brown things that look like chocolate chips, those are meal worms. Yay for me! I eat bugs. After I took the inaugural bite of this cookie I ate a few more, then I tried this southwest chip dip with crickets in it and it was so, so, so delicious. Except I had gritty little cricket legs in my teeth for awhile after.

P.S. I look so sweaty because it was September in New Orleans and OH.MY.GOODNESS. it was hot and sticky and gross and humid AND I got off the wrong trolley exit and walked like 3 blocks to get to the Insectarium. BLECH!

Random Picture Week: Day 2

At first I chose a completely different pic for today's Random Picture BUT...After dinner tonight Elise, age 8, my adorable free spirit of a child sat down at the computer to play for a few minutes. My kids really enjoy the PAINT program and are always "drawing" pictures in it. They are all quite creative and I love looking at what their little imagination come up with. Tonight, after sitting for several minutes Elise was so excited and kept jumping up and down asking me to look at what she made on the computer. I was trying to clean up the dinner dishes and attend to the baby so initially I brushed her off. She pleaded with me to just take a quick look at her picture and I gave in. It made me smile from ear to ear to see this:

She had a rough evening and got her little finger slammed in the piano lid but still Life could not be better! :) My daughter is a glass half full kind of gal, she is ever the optimist but she tends to be incredibly emotional. She feels every emotion with every cell in her body. She is the happiest child when she is happy and the saddest when she is sad. It warmed my heart that despite the sadness she felt before dinner she still thought that Life could not be better.

The words "Life could not be better" are part of a song from a movie the kids like to watch called "Liken the Scriptures:Nephi and Laban" Part of the chorus says:

"Life could not be better,
cause I choose the right down to the letter..."

Maybe that's why she drew herself running through a field of green with a big smile on her face?!

Random Picture Week: Day 1

The last couple of weeks have been super busy for me. I thought I was having blogger's block but I realize that LIFE was just getting in the way of my creativity! Blogging is a creative outlet for me and being so extremely busy every day was actually hindering my ability to write and all I could feel was exhaustion....creativity was no where to be found. Now that life has calmed back down I'm able to sit back, reflect on my day, and feel like I can actually write about it again.

In my last blog post, the one about blogger's block, I told you guys to help me out of my funk and I got a lot of response. So for the next while I'm going to use your ideas and questions as a spring board for each of my blog posts. :)

I love this idea so I declare this week RANDOM PICTURE WEEK




Ever wonder what I looked like as a baby?? The above picture was taken 29 years, 6 months, and 7 days ago. There really isn't a story to this picture other than I came into the world with a big mouth, a strongwill and a fighting spirit. This picture also stands as a reminder that I was born nearly 30 years ago...30. Years!

In 6 months I'm going to be 30.

Wow. 30. I'm gonna go cry in a corner....I'll be back tomorrow.
