So I haven't blogged in awhile...not typical for me as I'm a blogging addict but it's been a crazy few weeks I guess. Generally, today's post should be the annual HALLOWEEN 2008 edition but I took the camera to the kids school to get pictures at the costume parade and classroom parties (took only 1 picture) then I wound up leaving the camera in Ashlynne's classroom, thus we have no pictures to document Halloween 2008. However, we do have enough pictures of the kids in their costumes from all the parties and things they did this Halloween season I'm really not that torn up about it. I have so, so, so much to blog about but it will all have to wait for another day.
Lately, I have been feeling extremely tired. You might be thinking "well, duh, you DO have 5 kids, Alida!" Yeah well this was a different kinda tired....like uncontrollably tired...like I can barely function tired...like one morning I was running a low grade fever and I couldn't get up to get my older kids up and ready for school so they settled on poptarts and went to school while I laid in bed unable to move, tired. It is fairly inconvenient to be so incredibly tired when you have 5 children, a husband, a home...
I forget things because I don't even function properly. Finally, after 3 weeks of this I decided enough was enough and I went to the doctor to find out what's was going on with me. After talking to her and explaining my sleepiness, achiness, and inability to function she promptly decided it must be postpartum depression. She wrote me a prescription but decided to draw some blood just in case it was something else. I knew it was something else...this was not depression...I've been depressed before....this was NOT Depression.
Friday I was distracted by all the Halloween festivities. I left my cell phone in the car most of the day and around 4pm I noticed there were 8 messages (which had gathered up over several days) and I wasn't in the mood to check them. I finally got around to checking the messages on Saturday afternoon. There was a call from my doctor's office. My blood tests came back and they showed I was positive for Mononucleosis.
WHAT?!
I have what?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Mono.
I have MONO! MONO!!!
I was so incredibly confused and weirded out because 15 year olds get mono not a mother of 5, right?! Plus I don't generally go around swapping spit with people. But I have Mono. The worse part was I didn't get the message till Saturday so I couldn't even talk to the doctor about it until today. (shows me...I need to check m messages daily!!) So, I went in this morning and she says there is pretty much nothing they can do...no medicine....no fix...no cure. That's it. She also checked out my abdomen and it turns out I have a swollen enlarged spleen. It's hurts, it's achy and tender. Apparently, mono attacks the spleen and liver and can cause them to swell. I am at a higher risk for a ruptured spleen so no contact sports (dang no football), no rough housing with the kids, no picking up anything heavy....so I guess that's where I'm at now. I'll update if there is anything worth updating.
Tomorrow I will post some fun stuff if I feel up to it :)

I know mono is serious but you know me ~ my mind was going nuts wondering what you had. Hopefully with some much deserved rest, you'll be feeling better soon. Hugs honey!
Alida!! We all know you are teh promiscuous type lol! Hope you get feeling better. Wish there was something i could do. i guess you could call or txt or email me with all you complaints and whines! :)
hope you get feeling better soon
Yeah Gaylari I am soooo promiscuous...I mean the 5 kids thing leaves me tons of time to just go gallivanting around....lol...whatever your a jerk! ;) Love ya!
Mono?! So I guess you won't want to start running in the morning... Sorry Alida, that stinks!
Oh man, Alida! I could feel your pain as I was reading how tired you are. I'm so sorry. How long is it going to last? I'm sorry. I don't know what you are going to do. It's not like you can call in sick for a while!
you know, Jamie got Mono when we were first married, he got it from Jared (melanie's husband, who got it from Melanie, who got it from her old Boyfriend Rob. . . (I bet you remember him!). and some how, I never got it. Don't worry about it too much. It's just a virus, like a cold, that will go awya soon. Just take care of your self. If I can not get it from Jamie (remember, we were newlyweds) than I bet if you are careful you can keep your kids and husband from getting it.
I feel like such a nerd never having the cool kissing disease mono, you're so cool. But I hope you feel better soon.
Wow, Alida. I remember it was quite a scandal in high school when people got mono. Maybe a little less with you. Get better soon!!!
Scott- I KNOW!! Believe me, I know. That's why I was like, huh? What? You've got to be kidding me. But it's a lot easier to get then all that and I probably got it from the kiddos (who it doesn't affect in the same way as adults) In fact I have a friend whose 4 year old had mono last year sooooo on that note...Nope not scandalous...lol...but I'm sure everyone knew that already :)
OH, boy, Alida. Not a good time to have Mono, for sure. I hope you feel better soon. If I lived in Kansas, I would be over there helping out! In the meantime, I hope my prayers are sufficient!
Ohhh, I am so sorry. I hope you feel better soon. Take it easy!
I'm so sorry! I had that right after I got married. Super annoying. I hope you get better soon!
