So it's that time again...time for another routine MRI on his neck. If you aren't sure what I'm talking about you can catch up by reading this post from August last year. At Brinton's last appointment it seemed like his doctor's were leaning towards doing surgery some time this summer. BLECH! I'm still hoping that some miracle will occur and he will be healed and we'll all be stunned and have a big party to celebrate. That likely won't happen....but it would be so amazing if it did.
Brinton did so AMAZING at his MRI this time around. They prepped him for general anesthesia and took him back to the MRI room while I waited in the waiting room. At some point while waiting for the anesthesilogist to get everything ready I guess he fell asleep. They woke him up and asked him if he wanted to try to do the scans without having to be put under. We have tried this several times in the past but he just cannot do it. He wiggles to much and we've always wound up having to reschedule. Each scan is critical so it's been deemed medically necessary to have him under anesthesia to get the best quality scans possible. Anyway, the nurse asked if he wanted to try doing them without being put under and he said Yes. Would you believe that he was completely still through the whole thing?!?! I still can't believe it! But I was so incredibly excited that he didn't have to undergo general anesthesia again and we just walked right out of the Children's Hospital like it was any other day! YAY!
We haven't yet made the follow up appointment but I'm guessing it will be sometime in the next few weeks. We usually have both the ortho surgeon and the neurosurgeon there and so coordinating their schedules for the appointments is some times a little hard. So, I guess you can say TO BE CONTINUED....

What a good/brave little boy.
It's amazing how well kids handle these types of things..
I think I would have to be completely put out in order to have any big tests like that done!
Hoping for good news for the future!!
Brinton is such a sweet boy and I hope things will turn out well with him. I'll keep him and you all in my prayers.
Yay Brinton! So brave to mature to be able to hold still through that! I can't even imagine. Must be hard for you to as his mom to watch him go through that. Hope you get some answers!
