Seeing my mother lose all of her hair during chemo not once but twice really fueled the idea. It was heartbreaking to watch her go through it and I couldn't wrap my mind around the thought of a little child suffering the same...so in honor of my mother I did it...I chopped my hair! 11 inches to be exact. A small sacrifice. Right?!
Sort of.
I will admit that I drove over to the salon, sat down in the chair, discussed the hair cut and how short my hair would end up and then I got up and walked out of the salon. I was on my way home talking to my husband on the cellphone and he convinced me to go back. He told me things like "Hair will grow back...it's Valentine's Day, what a great way to show your love for your mother...you are gonna love this experience." So with his support I made a U-turn went back to the salon and had my hair cut. Because of the severity of the cut I wasn't really able to go with the haircut that I really wanted but I think this cute little A-line turned out just perfect....

It is CUTE!!!
I love it! I'm all about Locks of Love. If that much is coming off it may as well go somewhere more useful than the floor. Good for you!
Oh! It turned out sooo cute! You are so brave. Congrats! You will love how easy it is to take care of!
Wow! What a difference! It's cute! You are so brave and generous! I'd love to see more pictures of the new product! Your daughters should donate their hair to locks of love as well! Wouldn't that be so great?
Yes, I totally agree with what everyone said! And your girls should donate to locks of love too!!!
Love it, love it, love it! And, yes, hair does grow back--I've cut off two 10-11" braids in the last 5 years and look at my hair now (still have them in a drawer, waiting to be donated). You look adorable!
You look great Alida!
Very cute!!
It looks awesome! Don't you feel so liberated? I donated mine to locks of love too (my sister had cancer 3 years ago and lost all her hair in chemo) Anyway, you look very sassy and chic and I think that was the perfect way to honor your mother on Valentines day!
i love it Alida!!
One time my sister wanted her daughter (Abby)'s hair cut, but Abby wanted to leave it long. I asked her if she wanted to give it to locks of love so that a little girl with Cancer could have cute hair too. She loved that idea and still brags that she gave her hair to a little girl with cancer.
Good for you too!
looks very cute!! And I bet it is easy to maintain! My daughter had long hair her whole life (she's 12) and in May, she donated 12" to Locks of Love.
I think it is a wonderful thing you have done, and I know the receipient of the hair loves your for your thoughtfulness.
Abby donate once, several years ago and she still talks about doing it again. There is a wonderful feeling in this kind of service!
Your hair is beautiful! I love the cut! And, I bet your mom does too :-)
Oh my heck I love it! Your hair looks beautiful in those long tails. I think that's just about the sweetest thing ever! What a special v-day memory. You seriously look gorgeous.
It looks fantastic! My girls and I are saving up our hair for Locks of Love - our school does it as part of a big cancer awareness unit they do every year in March.
