30 Meals...

I am NOT, I repeat NOT a good cook...or even a fair to midland cook...okay maybe that's going to far but seriously I just don't have the cooking gene. My family does eat, they aren't withering away but I am just not good at coming up with food on the spot and in a pinch. Dinner time is NO FUN for me. I want to enjoy it but with so many other distractions (like, ummmm, 5 kids for instance) I find it very difficult.

Today, I stumbled upon Kathryn & Melissa's blog called NANNYGOAT, which is seriously an awesome blog with tons of great ideas.

Last week they posted this little gem of an idea:
The 30 Meals Plan

Isn't that great! Along with that they also made this cute little recipe box to hang on their fridge. I.MUST.HAVE.IT (supposedly a tutorial is coming soon)

I am totally excited to start trying new things and building my 30 meals, so that I don't have to stress at dinner time anymore. I only have one dumb question...if one of those meals includes your basic everyday spaghetti and meatballs do I really have to have a recipe card for that?! Maybe I will just write SPAGHETTI & MEATBALLS on an index card really big and only revert to that in times of true necessity.

P.S. As an added bonus if you are excited about the "30 Meals Project" head over to my friend Jackie's Blog at "The Combs Kitchen" where she has great recipe & menu planning ideas.

Thanks for the shout out Alida!

I LOVE that 30 meals idea! I am definitely checking that blog out and totally want that recipe holder on the side of my fridge too!

I'll have to check it out! I have a "menu" posted on my fridge each month. At the end of the month, I print a blamk calendar & plan our month of meals.

so I basically have 20-30 meals on my calendar. some days get busy, so I switch meals sometimes. this has worked for our family for 11 years.

when I know we'll be busy or at games, etc., then I plan crock pot meals, frozen meals, or something simple.

Although this isn't perfect & sometimes has hiccups, this has simplified & de-stressed my life! I am going to look into the 30 meals on the side of my fridge, though!

Hey, guess what we had for dinner tonight? Spaghetti and meatballs. No joke. I'm so glad you are inspired by this 30 days plan. I need to take a look at it too, because although I love to cook(when I actually do), I find I am not inventive enough...in a good sense. Haha. Thanks for this idea!!!
