Say a little prayer for me...

Last week the left side of my face went numb. It started with my left nostril and it spread up to my eyebrow, my left cheek, my lips....and it came with a brain splitting headache. I have MAYBE one headache a year. I am not prone to headaches nor do I even keep tylenol around because I generally have no need for it. But last Monday...wow...I needed it.

Tuesday I went to the Dr. I told her my face was numb and tingly. Like if it just fell asleep or if I had gone to the dentist and been given too much novacaine...my face was numb. So she sent me for a CT Scan...stat. CT Scan showed a small spot on my brain...possibly a hemmorhage...MRI scheduled for Wednesday...

Wednesday I had an MRI. The single most scary experience in my life. I would rather give natural birth to triplets crowning at the same time then ever get another MRI again! (Ok it wasn't that bad...after the crying...the praying...the crying...) So the MRI shows a bulging vein. Dr. calls me says she thinks its a mild form of Bells Palsy and puts me on some steroids. Problem fixed. Right?!

Thursday more brain splitting headaches...I take ibuprofen and sleep...A LOT

Friday the dr. calls...she got the MRI back from radiology and decided that maybe a neurologist needs to take a look...appt scheduled for Monday.

Saturday & Sunday...taking each day as it comes...

Monday Neurologist appointment 8:45am. Nope it's not Bells Palsy. Yes there is a bulging vein (don't be worried it's probably been there since birth), BUT there is also inflammation in the brain and a Developmental Venous Anomaly which goes pretty deep into the cortex (huh? yeah, I don't know either) Let's order more tests to see what's really going on...MRA, EEG, Blood Tests, and a Lumbar Puncture.

That brings us to tomorrow morning. Early tomorrow I am having a lumbar puncture, also known as a spinal tap. They are going draw some fluid from my spine with a big ole needle to do some testing. I go in at 9am and I should be done by 3pm. I guess it used to be an "inpatient" thing and people would have to stay for 24 hours after but health insurances stopped paying for the stay so I get to do this outpatient and come home to a house full of children...and I can't get up out of bed for anything but to go to the bathroom...til Thursday morning...and only because I have the EEG scheduled on Thursday or it would be till Thursday evening.

Okay so there is a point to this whole blog...could you please, please pray for me. Pray for my children and for my husband. Pray for the Dr. performing the procedure. Pray for the dr's interpreting the procedures. Pray, pray, pray. Please?!

Of course you will be in my prayers. I wish there was more I could do. Do you live in the SLC area? Maybe I could bring you dinner or help with kids. I know we don't really "know" eachother but I seriously wish I could be more helpful.

My heart goes out to you Alida! I wish I could be there to watch your kids for you so you could focus on finding out what's wrong. We'll definitely pray for you and your family. A couple of my sisters have had a spinal taps (we have a lot of medical issues in our family) and they are NO fun! I hope you have people who can come help and take care of you!
