Start and stop....

Thursday and Friday the baby was moving so, so much it was actually making me feel sick. I could tell her position was "posterior" meaning her back was to my back and her arms and legs were to my front. This is the opposite of how you want baby to be for birth of course but a lot of babies will turn during labor so it's not a huge huge deal or anything. Actually I delivered Brinton posterior and arm first so it can be done but I wouldn't suggest it. Anyway, back to my story...so she was moving so much she was making me feel ill, her position was weird, I felt off, she felt unsettled and it was just a really strange couple of days.

On Saturday I called into the midwife to just talk to her about this weird change in movement and she suggested I just come in for a bit to get checked and have a non-stress test done.

Well I'm 2cm dilated and almost completely effaced (which could mean nothing right) and after a short time on the monitor it seemed like baby was doing pretty well so we went home.

I didn't really do anything of note. We went to the pool, had a BBQ in the backyard with the kids and then went on a late night walk around the block to enjoy the cooler weather. At around 11pm I laid down to sleep and started having contractions. Real contractions. Contractions that got longer and stronger and closer together and some that I had to breathe through. At about 1:30 am they were 5-6 minutes apart and lasting about a minute and a half. I usually have fairly fast labors so I decided to get dressed around two-ish, brush my hair and get myself ready. At almost 3 something strange happened. The contractions started getting easier to manage, then started lasting only 30 seconds or so and then slowly they were gone.

To say I'm sad is kind of an understatement. I was all ready for this to be the real thing and it turned out to be a stop and go type deal. Today I've had contractions come and go but absolutely nothing that I can time. I walked home from church and went for a walk after Sunday supper and the only thing that brought me was fatigue and the need for a 2 hour nap.

I'm truly hoping that things start picking up again soon. I'd really like to meet our baby. I'm trying to be patient and let my body do its thing but it's no fun when my body keeps tricking me.

So that's my start and stop update....hopefully the next time it starts there won't be a stop.
