Day 4: Independence Day!

We celebrated the 4th with friends (in 108 degree weather for 6 hours straight) in Independence, MO next to the LDS Visitors Center. There were so many kids in just our small group that our children had fun playing sidewalk chalk, four square, and kick ball for hours. Before dinner the dads got together and took the kids to tour the visitors center while the moms played Phase10 and ate way to much junk food. Dinner BBQ was typical and delicious followed by more games and chatting. Lastly, it was time for the huge fireworks show. It was incredible! We were so close that some cardboard from the exploded fireworks landed on our friends blanket! (I promise we were behind the rope!) the show lasted a full 30 minutes and was accompanied by the Independence Band. Half way through Aidan somehow fell asleep, although I don't know how because it was seriously so loud. It was a fun, fun, fun way to celebrate the 4th and truly I'm not sure there was a better place to celebrate Independence Day than Independence, MO.
