The Midwest is CRAZY for FOOTBALL and how I embrace it...

Football season has begun. Generally, that would mean absolutely nothing to me, but living in the Midwest has given me a whole different perspective when it comes to football. I'm not really what you would call a "sports girl." Sure, I went to all the Football and Basketball games in highschool(to socialize), I rooted for the Utah Jazz (when they were good and I lived in Utah), and I watch the Superbowl (mostly for the commercials and halftime), but I'm not really into sports, I just make believe.

Since, we moved here last year I've noticed that sports, football in particular, are big out here in Kansas...like BIG, BIG. Like so big that Football out here is a 3 day weekend...or 4 day if you get into the Monday Night Games. For instance, my whole neighborhood packs into their cars on Friday night to go to the Highschool Football games (Go North!) ...half of them don't even have a highschooler! We have the KC Chiefs, and the KU Jayhawks, and the K-State Whatevers....and that's just FOOTBALL. From what I understand every Friday is deemed "Red Shirt" day at offices all around KC to show your support for the Chiefs (Why? They aren't even very good...so I hear, I've never actually watched a game, I just heard that in the halls at church once). On Saturdays nearly everyone is wearing their team shirts with pride. Sundays, as I walk down the halls at church, there is lot's of chatter about last night's college game or the next NFL game. Elder's Quorum activities for the guys center around BYU football games!! Serious!! Don't get me started on Fantasy Football.

I'm not saying any of it is bad, because it's not, it is just super foreign to me and somedays I feel like they are speaking a different language. Two Point Conversions, Intercepting the punt, and imagine my surprise when I learned a 'Nose Guard' wasn't a piece of equipment to protect your nose!!

Last season, I sat in awe of all the football fans and I wished so much that I could be like them. So this year I decided to embrace it the best way I knew how...

I signed my daughters, Ashlynne & Elise, up for cheerleading. :)

That's awesome. The best way is just to be imersed in it. Enjoy! She looks like she's enjoying it, too!
