HELP WANTED!!! FAST.....

The other day I picked up this cute little swing top x3 at Gymboree for each of the girls to wear, over white short sleeve tops, for our family pictures.

I fell in love with the bright colors and got such an amazing deal that I didn't really give thought to what the rest of us will wear. We typically try to match in one way or another and it's almost become tradition to have the girls wearing pink and the boys in blue...case in point:

November 2005

October 2007
June 2008

So now I'm faced with a couple dilemmas:

1. What color should I put my boys in? my husband? Myself?

2. Should the girls wear denim underneath? or shorts? or a skirt?

3. Do I just scrap the shirts altogether?

I'm sure I'm making this bigger than it is but thats the crazed perfectionist in me.

So PLEASE HELP!

Thanks! :)

I LOVE those shirts! :) I'd match the green for the boys' shirts with either tan shorts/pants or denim. Any way you do it, I can't wait to see them! :) Good luck!

The shirts are so cute!! Definitely use them!! You should wear a pink shirt to match them and then either put the boys in green or if you want to keep with the pink and blue tradition just put them in a really pale blue. I think it will look great!!

Find a pink shirt that matches the pink on the top of the girls' shirts, and a pale blue like your friend said for the boys to keep with the pink and blue. Denim would look fine underneath the shirts. Don't stress about it! :]

i think you should all wear jeans, and then have you and the husband in white shirts and the boys in the bright green that will match the bottom edge.

So here's my short winded 2 cents...since this could be a looong comment if I don't censor myself.

1. I think matching outfits is over rated and quite honestly when I show up to a shoot and see everyone matchy-matchy I almost am tempted to turn around and run :) But that is my taste and my opinion and so as a photographer I strive to give the people in the session what they want and not what I want :)

2. your family is cute

3. Having the girls in pink and boys in blue is a limiting factor.

4.I think you should wear white with a pop of the bright pink or green in an accessory. boys should wear brown and green, girls either white or green with a pink pop here or there and the dad white. See how the colors flow but aren't all "Hi I'm a mormon and I like to match" :P

5. remember to think classic. If you dress a little funky but still try and stick to a little classic your pictures won't look dated in about 5 years.

Hope this helps...

p.s NO kahki...dark denim for boys, skirt perhaps for little girls and dark denim for parental units....

pps scratch the girls wearing whatever i suggested...one girl wear the top you have the other a solid color from the top and a coordinating hair accessory should you desire.

also...in the future buy your outfit first. Moms always have the hardest time finding what they like and think they'll look good in. Once you find your outfit pull colors from that outfit out for the kids...

I like the shirts for the girl with the white underneath. I personally, would have the girls wear jean pants, shorts or a skirt under them. You should wear any one of the colors, preferable pink or white. Your husband should stick to white unless he likes bright green. The boys should stick to that bright green or white shirt or green and white striped (fabulous) and jeans. That's my two cents! Have fun in Utah and try not to be upset by the sure to be moldy bread on your doorstep. I left it right after you left. Whoops!

I agree whole heartedly with Erica's advice.
Don't stress about being matchy matchy.
If you have the same general colors, it's all good.
We just had family pictures done and Steve was like what are we wearing? We don't even match. Exactly!
and I second the buying your outfit first. That is so true! It's easy for kids to look good in just about anything.
For what it's worth, I think the shirts you have chosen are cute. Just breathe and it will all work out :) Can't wait to see the results.
