1. a small or large modeled representation or tableau of Mary, Joseph, and others around the crib of Jesus in the stable at Bethlehem, as is displayed in homes or erected for exhibition in a community at Christmas season.
Our church hosted a beautiful Creche exhibit this weekend for the community. It featured nativity scene's from all over the world, large and small, made from every material you could ever imagine. I had the awesome opportunity to participate in the live nativity as Mary and Liam was Baby Jesus. On Saturday night Liam and I were scheduled from 6:30 to 9:00 pm. I was a little nervous about having to sit with an active 7 month old for so long but after 15 minutes he fell asleep in my arms and I quietly rocked him for the next few hours. He was THE PERFECT baby. Everyone kept asking me how I got him to sleep like that. I like to think the Lord had his hand in helping my little Liam "sleep in heavenly peace" for the night. It was an amazingly spiritual experience to rock my beautiful baby boy as Mary must have rocked her baby so long ago and to know that he was all mine. I thought of the sacrifice that Mary knew she would ultimately have to make and I could barely contain my emotions as I felt an amazing love and respect for such an amazing woman, Mary the mother of Christ.
Yesterday evening we had the opportunity to participate again. This time Jeremiah was able to join us as Joseph. Liam was not quite the quiet, sleepy little baby he had been the night before but it was a lovely experience nonetheless. I feel certain that the Lord blessed me with that experience Saturday night, I feel like it was handmade for me and for that I am grateful.

Liam was the perfect baby - you're right!!! During "Mary's Lullaby" that Sister Epperson sang, I kept looking back at you and Liam and thinking of how Mary must have had all the emotions of a mother (imagine that!) and that Jesus was her baby... amazing. Thanks for being Mary!!!
What a cool experience. That's so amazing that Liam slept so perfectly that first night! 7 month olds are usually past that easy sleepy stage.
I totally know how you feel relating to Mary with your baby. Being a mother has made Jesus' birth story so much more meaningful and given me a new reverence and respect for Mary. That's awesome that you got to be a part of that experience. : )
Beautiful pictures Alida. What a wonderful experience to participate in.
