Brinton is a very bright child he is super in math and science, a great little artist and LOVES recess. He is your typical boy and he constantly makes my laugh. However, Brinton really struggles with reading. All through first grade he struggled to learn to read and then one day it just clicked. He isn't a very fast reader which frustrates him to the point of giving up. Generally, I have to plead with him, beg him, bribe him to read. Lately, however, I've noticed if given the right book he amazes me with his ability to breeze through them. Recently, he has shown a lot of interest in "Black Lagoon" books and "Captain Underpants" (silly, I know) but he also has developed an interest in Dragons.
Jeremiah purchased this book called "ERAGON" it's a chapter book and much too advanced for Brinton so they have been reading it together. I keep telling Jeremiah it's going to frustrate Brinton and they should just wait. But Brinton was so eager to read it. I just didn't want him to face another let down.
Last night the adults were a little sucked in to the VP Debates and he didn't get to read with his dad. But when I walked up to check on the kids to see if everyone was in jammies and doing their "relax time" (where they read or do something quietly before bed)
Imagine my surprise when I came upon this:
He was even keeping a little notebook of words he didn't recognize so that we could help him with the definitions!!
Then just 10 minutes later when I went to tell everyone it was time to go to sleep...this:
You can do ANYTHING...even the really difficult things if you just put your mind to it...don't ever give up.
He never ceases to amaze me.
