I'm not into Vampires...my husband is...me not so much. I like to feel safe and secure in reality. Not to mention I generally HATE suspenseful things, gives me butterflies in my stomach. So when I moved last year to a new ward in Vegas and the Relief Society book club decided to read "Twilight" I thought...hmmm maybe I could pretend to like Vampires to fit in. Then again maybe not. I just wasn't interested, so I didn't even try. Then, all of a sudden the whole Twilight thing BLEW UP!! It was EVERYWHERE! Everyone was reading it or had read it, obsessed with it, wishing they were Bella, telling their husbands to get less sun so they could be pale like Edward, taking vacations to Forks, Washington, googling Vampires, and camping out at Borders for hours to get the new book. I couldn't take it! I am "A-LIDA"not a "follower" (apparently I'm a bit of a comedian, too) but I just knew that I could not, would not read the Twilight series. Why? Cause I didn't want to be like everyone else, duh!
However, as of late I have been really rethinking my decision. I guess because now there is a movie coming out and everyone is "in the know" I feel like I need to read it. I'm no follower but I don't like to be on the outside of the circle either. I couldn't fathom being invited to the "Girls Night Outs" that will surely happen when the movie comes out and being the only one there without any insight. So I picked up the book at Walmart for $8 (a perk of purchasing the book waaayyyy after its first appearance on bookstore shelves) and I settled in to read it. I wanted to hate it. I wanted to say "I don't know what all the fuss is about!" I wanted to yell "You Crazy SAHM's with nothing, nothing to do but READ VAMPIRE books!!" It started slowly...one chapter at a time...blah blah...trying not to get excited. Little by little my intrigue took over...the last few days I have not been able to put it down (well as much as life w/ 5 kids and husband have allowed)Eek! The exact opposite of what I wanted happened....I'm HOOKED!
Today, we went to the gym...usually I would be riding the stationary bike then running the track for a few miles but today I rode the bike and READ...I got on the treadmill and READ....next thing I know...
"Paging ALIDA BOWLES to the nursery"...2 minutes passed and Miah walks over to me
"They paged you" he says
"Huh?" completly startled
"They paged you"
"I didn't even hear it! See the tracker...and then Bella...and OMGosh..."
"They paged you"
"Alright, I'm going...to change a poopy diaper I bet"
And that's exactly what I did and then....I continued to read...I'm so close!! UG! After the gym Jeremiah had to run an errand at Walmart and he took Ashlynne with him.
"Okay, Ashlynne, repeat after me..."NEW MOON"
"New Moon"
Okay Ashlynne, repeat "Look for New Moon"
"Look for New Moon"
"Now Ashlynne this is very, very important to mommy because I am about to finish Twilight and won't be able to sleep tonight if I don't have the next book in hand"
"Okay, mommy....New Moon"
As she walked away I shout: "What's it called??"
"NEW MOON!!"

I hope Ashlynne remembered! You are so funny.
Oh, I hope she got it for you. I remember having to wait overnight for New Moon. Happy Reading ;)
I just finished Breaking Dawn this weekend ;)
I devoured those books while on jury duty (getting mad when I had to actually be in the courtroom) and then went to the midnight sale to pick up the last one. They are so good.
HA HA HA... I told you you would love it!!!!!! Be careful not to read them all in a row though... you may get annoyed if you do. Well at least I did. I read the 2nd and 3rd ones one right after another and I hated Bella by the end. So I'm taking a little break before I read the last one. Plus it is forcing me to do my homework!
Now you know what we where all doing! Don't feel bad I gave in in August too. I hope you enjoy the rest of them.
You crack me up!
