Omaha Zoo

Back in October when the kids were off for Fall Break we decided to take a quick "Daycation" to Omaha Zoo. It's a little over three hours to Omaha and because we are members of the Kansas City Zoo entry was half off.

When we woke up Friday morning it turns out it was going to be a super cold day. I got the kids all bundled up but when we got there I realized the majority of the exhibits were indoors ! That was great because we only had to be outdoors in the 40 degree weather to walk between buildings.

The kids had an absolute blast and I've decided that Omaha Zoo is probably one of my favorite zoo's that I've ever been to!

We could've watched the gorillas, orangutans and other monkeys the whole day.

The big cat house with tigers, lions, an panthers was great. There was one tiger that really had a thing for Brinton when we were outside. When we moved inside the tiger came really close to the window and was stalking us. Then climbed up on the window when I was taking a picture of Ashlynne. I guess we looked like lots of fun? Or really tasty??

We brought some rolls, luncheon meat, cheese, Capri suns and some apples for lunch. Attraction food is always so expensive and never really healthy. It's like $6 for a hot dog and $10 for a drink...(I'm exaggerating)...no thank you. My kids enjoyed our little lunch outside the cat house just as much an we saved a lot of $$.

Probably one of the neatest areas of the zoo was the indoor rainforest. It was huge and there were animals everywhere. At one point you literally walk through an area with bats flying all around you. That was not neat. I had a neat meltdown and had to keep moving forward saying I think I can, I think I can... I couldn't even take pics I was so freaked out. I hate bats!

The last place we went to was the Aquarium onsite. The penguins were our favorite, followed by jellyfish and sharks. So cool.

It was a super fun trip. Did i mention I think Omaha Zoo is one of my favorite zoos. Ever.

{photo time:this blog post is written from my blogger app which doesn't allow me to post and move photos the way I want to. I have had this post sitting in drafts for far to long so I'm going to post as is....even if this means the photos are all dumb and out of order...enjoy}
