This week I've come to the realization that Summer is just slipping away from me...
Just 3 weeks from today Ashlynne will enter middle school.
Then, 3 weeks from tomorrow Brinton and Elise will return to Elementary school and begin their 5th and 3rd grade year and Julianna will enter the halls of her elementary school for the first time as a new kindergartner.
Just 3 weeks left!
We've accomplished so much this summer but there was so much more I wish we could've done. I don't know how it's gone by so fast. With Ash and Brinton heading off to grandpa's and then grandma's for the last month I feel like I've hardly spent time with them at all.
The sun has been scorching our little Kansas town for the last month and we've spent a lot of time at the pool but as the days get hotter and the grass on my front lawn gets browner we've been spending more time indoors escaping the imminent sunburn, heat stroke and dehydration that this weather often brings. Sadly, there is only so much coloring, games, pretend, dress up, barbies, action figures, fort building, singing, dancing, computer, and tv time you can do and then you start to go stir crazy. Part of me is anxious for the next 3 weeks to fly by so that we can get back to our daily routine and the other part of yearns for the summer to continue with no end. Endless summer days.
As a family we've decided to really take the time for the next 3 weeks to enjoy the rest of summer to the fullest. To take time to savor each moment. To really soak in the last few lazy days we have....

Isn't it nuts how fast time flies? My kids only have three weeks left too and I keep wondering where the summer went, although I know we've done a lot and have had a lot of fun. But, like you, I also wish we would have done more. I guess we'll all have to make the best out of the remaining weeks!
