When they arrived home and I inspected it I immediately felt that it need stitches. It appeared to be gaping and I just didn't think a band-aid would do the trick without leaving a scar. I decided to take her to the ER at around 10:30 at night to see if it needed stitches or crazy glue or open brain surgery....(OK not the last one I was just trying to make it sound interesting...) Lucky for us the ER was EMPTY and we were escorted right back to a room. When the physicians assistant saw it she immediately said that it would require atleast 3 stitches to close it up properly. Aaaahhhh! STITCHES?! On my pretty 4 year old princess?! :(

They began with a numbing ointment to prep the area for the sutures. They applied a big glob of it, covered it with a lovely white gauze and we waited....

....then they came in again, applied some more ointment and we waited, and colored in a coloring book...

....then they came in a THIRD time, applied some more ointment and we waited another 15 minutes and it was time. They irrigated the wound with saline and I could finally see how deep it really was. Then came stitchy stitch time. I held Julianna's hands, I looked away, I inspected her nails, I avoided her eyes (and her forehead), I checked out her shoes, and talked about her dress and then it was done.
And she had the.BIGGEST.SMILE.EVER on here face! In fact I took a picture where she wasn't smiling and she made me delete it and take another one where she WAS smiling! LOL! She didn't want her fans to think she was a frowny face. haha.

So we survived our first child with stitches...actually that's not true Brinton has had TONS of stitches but none that I've ever actually been there for and none that were from a childhood accident....So we survived our first STITCHES. She gets them out in 5 days and I hope it's as painless coming out as they were going in.
