Nauvoo Pageant

This weekend we had the wonderful opportunity to go and see the Nauvoo Pageant. We spent most of Saturday touring Old Nauvoo and taking in some of the things we missed when we made the trip last month. Our friends The Davis Family, from our ward in Vegas, are part of the family cast so we chose to make the trip a second time this year to be able to see them and of course see the pageant.

Our kids had a BLAST playing all the pioneer games with the Davis kids at the 19th century fair which was held before the pageant. Brinton was very good at Horseshoes and Ashlynne is much stronger than me when it comes to log sawing! While we were there Jeremiah got to push a hand cart filled with our children (minus Liam) up and down a hill, which he said was easy, no sweat. I said, try doing it for 1200 miles!! :) The pageant itself was AMAZING and moved me to tears several times. The spirit was certainly strong there.

On our trip home yesterday evening we stopped for a rest at Adam-ondi-Ahman. It was close to sunset and we enjoyed the quiet and stillness all around us as we held our family home evening about the significance of Adam-Ondi-Ahman (out of the Primary 5 Manual, Lesson 30). When we finished our last little "hike" we got into our car and began our drive home. Across the valley of Adam-ondi-Ahman we saw the most breath-taking sight. As the sun had set and dusk was closing in, it appeared that the rays of the sun were stretching across the sky and over the valley of this sacred place. Brinton commented that it was "the most amazing thing he had ever seen." That about sums it up. I'll leave you with an un-retouched picture we took...
