My boy can HUSTLE....

I remember going to my brother's soccer games when I was little and watching them run up and down the field...they were hustlers. My mom would stand on the sidelines and cheer them on, yelling, screaming (often to embarrassment) but always supporting my brothers as they maneuvered down the field guiding the soccer ball to an ultimate goal. I always remember admiring my mom because she cheered so loud and so hard that people must've been thinking "Oh she's one of "those" moms" but she didn't care she just kept cheering. I'll admit it, I was a little embarrassed but secretly I hoped one day I would be "one of those moms." You know, the one's who don't care to yell and cheer their child on, even if she does over power everyone else at the game.

Today I got the chance to be one of "those" mom's at Brinton's first Basketball game. Lucky for me, I was joined by an even louder cheerleader, Jeremiah...he was much, much louder and less reserved then I. (I'm still learning mom but soon I'll be as cool as you.) Brinton was GREAT! He ran up and down the court, guarded his man, played perfect offense & defense....he was AWESOME! He was so focused and had so much energy for the game how could I not be animated?? At the end of each game the coach gives each kid an award for their contribution to the team, this week Brinton got the BEST HUSTLE award. :)

I'd like to think it was all the cheering from the stands that kept him hustling down the court...

P.S. He is #3 on the "Cougars" (yes...the Cougars...how cool is that??)

Okay- I'll comment because I'm one of THOSE Moms too! Good for your boy. It's so important for them to learn to work hard at something they want to accomplish.

I'm waiting for my boys to be old enough for sports, I think this summer Kaleb will be. I hope I can be that kind of Mom too.
